One of the most common sites among DJ websites is a number of badges and certifications from all sorts of companies. We won’t name any explicitly, but if you look around, you’ll notice a number of certifications, award, and celebratory badges on the websites of DJ’s and event industry professionals. We’re not knocking the model, but we do think it’s important for DJ’s and other event profs to know what’s really happening when they are ‘awarded’ or ‘recognized’ by companies with badges.

The Real Story: It’s for the traffic.
It’s important to be cognizant of the fact that these companies want to ‘award’ you a badge because their searchability goes through the roof every time more people link to them and put their badges on your site. The end result is that hundreds and thousands of badges are granted and exist solely for the purpose of driving more web traffic.
